George Susman

George Susman, 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 17, 2024.  He was born on December 20, 1933, in Romania to the late Nistor and Veronica Susman.  George immigrated to the U.S. with his wife and children in 1979 to join his family who had come years earlier.

George was blessed to have lived for half his life in Romania and half his life in the U.S.  He worked as an electrician by trade while living in Romania.  After moving to the U.S. he mainly worked at Universal Tire Molds of Akron.  His bold and strongly independent personality was coupled with hard work and determination.  He was unique and passionate in his goals as well as highly disciplined in his daily living.  George enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and loved to share stories of his wisdom from past experiences 

George was respectfully known as and called “Dad” by many friends and family members of the Romanian Baptist Church.  He loved the Lord, the word of God, the local church, and his family very much. His great life desire was to see the Word of God preached and to see his family members serving the Lord.  

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10

Along with his parents, George is preceded in death by his gentile sweetheart, Jenny; brother, Alex and sister, Vicky.  He leaves many memories to be cherished by his son, Dan (Katy) Susman; daughter, Felicia (Patrick) Moga; grandchildren, David (Dia), Ryan (Julia), Sarah (Alex), and Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Evelyn, and Matthew; as well as many other loving family and friends.   

The family wishes to express their gratitude to their extended family and friends from the Romanian Baptist Church for their loving support and many prayers. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319.  Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 6 P.M. with a wake service starting at 6 P.M. at the funeral home.  The interment will take place at East Liberty Cemetery.  To read more about George’s life and leave a special message for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
